Our History

Sharjah Cultural and Sports Club was established in 1966 under the name of Al Orouba Club. In 74/1975, Al Orouba Club and Al Khaleej Club were merged and re-proclaimed under the name of Sharjah Club by Ministerial Resolution No. 8 of 1974.  The club became a major supporter of the national teams in the seventies, eighties, and nine of the last century, and nine of its players represented the first Emirates football team in its historical participation in the World Cup of Italy in 1990: Mohsen Musabah, Essa Mir, Yousef Hussein, Abdul Rahman Al Haddad, Ibrahim Mir, Ahmed Ibrahim, Hussein Ghuloom, Abdulaziz Mohammed Abdullah, and Ali Thani.

1973

The first team of Sharjah Club won the first league championship in the UAE in the season 73-1974, under the name of Al Orouba Club, before merging with Al Khaleej to be Sharjah Club. After that, the club won the league championship 4 times and was also named King for winning the championship of His Highness the President’s Cup 8 times. Sharjah Club is the most championship club in various sports in the UAE.

Merging Sharjah Club with Al Shaab Club:

Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah issued a decision to merge Sharjah Club with Al Shaab Club to become one entity under the name of Sharjah Sports Club. To improve the level of sports in the emirate and unify and combine efforts to serve all different sports.

1978

The first championship of president’s cup , the third edition of the championship, the Sharjah team succeeded in defeating the Al Ain team with penalties.

October

1979

The second championship of the president’s cup , the fourth edition of the championship, the club retained the trophy title for the second season in a row after beating its counterpart, the Al-Nasr team in the final match with a clear goal.

May

1981

The third championship of the president’s cup  , the sixth edition of the championship, in which Sharjah won the title of the cup after beating its traditional rival, the Al-shaab team, in the final match with two goals for nothing

November

1982

The fourth championship of the president’s cup   , the seventh edition of the championship, witnessed the crowning of the Sharjah team with the fourth title in its history when it beat the Al Wasl team (the champion of the league) by two goals for nothing.

December

1986

The second championship league competition , the Sharjah team has snatched the title at the expense of the Al Wasl team.

May

1988

The third championship league competition Sharjah club played with Al Jazira and succeeded in winning  (4:3)

September

1990

The fifth championship  of the president’s cup   , and the Sharjah team succeeded in reaching the final match to face the Al Wasl team and winning it with (3-0).

October

1993

The first championship of Super cup  , the second edition of the Super Championship, brought together Sharjah with the Al shabab team who was one of the most prominent competitors for local competitions in the mid-1990s next to The Al Ain team.

November

1993

The fourth championship league competition   , where the competition was between Sharjah and its counterpart, the Al Ain team.

July

1994

The sixth championship of  the president’s cup    , the nineteenth edition of the championship, after beating the Al Ain team in the final match that ended with penalties (5:4).

April

1995

The fifth championship league competition   , the Sharjah team won the championship after beating the Elkhaleej team in Khorfakkan  (1:0)

February

1997

The seventh championship of the president’s cup     , the twenty-second edition of the championship, in which the Sharjah team was crowned champion of the cup for the seventh time in its history after beating Al Wasl in the final match.

December

2002

The eighth championship of the president’s cup, the twenty-seventh edition of the championship, which the King won the title of the cup at the expense of the Al-Wahda team with penalties with   (1:1).

2017

Taekwondo teams  won more than 10 color medals  in the Korean Friendship Championship

Men team 5 gold medals

Youth team 4 gold medals and silver and bronze medal

junior team, 5 gold medals, a silver medal, and 2 bronze medals

2018

The sixth championship league competition , Sharjah Club won the sixth league championship and it was in the era of professionalism   when it was crowned champion of the Arabian Gulf League, the first league championship after the merger decision.

The second championship of Super cup  , for the first time in the era of professionalism, who participated in the championship as the champion of the Arabian Gulf League

BICYCLES team snatched  medals in :

– The Daman sunset cycling  (individual ) championship Junior team bronze medal

-The Hadiraat cycling  (individual ) championship Junior team silver medal

-Falco Daman Cycling  (individual ) Championship Junior Gold Medal
