Sharjah claimed their first ADIB Cup title after coming from a 0-1 down to defeat Al Ain 2-1 at Al Nahyan Stadium on Saturday.
Al Ain snatched the lead after 30 minutes when Sharjah’s defense failed to properly clear Bandar Al Ahbabi’s cross as the ball fell to Kouame Antonne, who fired a powerful strike into the top corner.
Sharjah turned the game on its head in just eight minutes as Luan Pereira timed his run perfectly to head in Marcus Vinicius’ cross and hit the equalizer.
Sharjah were awarded a penalty kick after Luan Pereira was brought down inside the box by Rafael Pereira, prompting the referee to point to the spot.
Caio Lucas made no mistake from the spot and put his side ahead in the first half’s stoppage time after stepping up and sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
